We missed our chance with social media. The platforms grew faster than the standards, and by the time philanthropy showed up, the norms were already set. Gaming is at the same inflection point right now, and the window is still open.

The industry is expanding rapidly, reaching younger audiences and wider communities than ever before. What philanthropy can do, that regulation cannot, is work with the industry to build something better from the inside: practical tools, trained leaders, and community standards that players model and believe in.

The gaming industry is uniquely positioned to create and iterate on the programs that make digital spaces safer and more welcoming for everyone. They move fast. They have the infrastructure. What they need is a partner who can help them build sustainably, not just reactively.

We have built programs for this: a microgrant initiative already in its second year, a leadership credential in development, and a framework for how philanthropy and the gaming industry can actually work together. If you have been thinking about this space, we should talk.
